ANNUAL KIDS FISHING DERBY

What is the Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby?

Indian Lake Fish and Game has sponsored this event over the past 40 years. The goal is to introduce children to the sport of fishing, sportsmanship, and conservation. The day also provides for education about fishing and time for fellowship between families and friends. Each year over 100 children take part in the event and over the years over 4,000 children have participated.

"WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING"?

Each child needs to bring their own fishing pole and tackle. We supply all the bait.

If you need help getting set up or need pointers, there are plenty of members to give you a hand.

Dress for the weather and you might want to bring some chairs.

Towards the end of the competition the our local Knight's of Columbus serve hotdogs, punch & cookies.

The success of the fishing derby is contributed to local support from area merchants, the Knights of Columbus, and Fish and Game club membership. Many merchants provide: prizes, food, refreshments, and bait. We also work closely with the State of Ohio Department of Wildlife, who is on hand at the event. Children register at the event for free with the opportunity to catch fish and win prizes!

The derby is held every year at Moundwood State Park.
